Job summary

SubSea Craft, a fast-growing maritime technology company, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to join our US engineering team. You will develop electrical designs from concept through testing, validation, and manufacturing on complex watercraft systems.

You will work closely with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performing electrical systems. The role emphasizes hands-on design, prototype testing, and close collaboration with suppliers

Qualifications

• Marine electrical background and a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with electrical designs from concept to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with production of new electrical designs from concept through final manufacture.
• Undertaking design validation via calculation for electrical systems and equipment.
• Apply analysis outputs to demonstrate compliance with safety, functional and performance requirements.
• Liaise with test facilities, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers as required.
• Handle testing of designed systems with a hands-on approach.
• Work in on-site test facility to produce prototype setups to verify electrical designs.
• Apply systems engineering lifecycle practices to your work.
• Issue drawings for production according to company procedures.
• Collaborate with hydraulic and cooling systems specialists.
• Assist with vessel electrical test documents for first of class build.
• Assist with BOM/part creation.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team. In this hands-on role, you will support electrical designs from concept through testing, validation, and manufacturing.

You will work closely with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop safe, reliable, and high-performing electrical systems. The role includes design, prototype development, validation simulation & testing, technical documentation, and support for build and commissioning activities.

We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated engineer with strong electrical systems knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving. Experience in marine or maritime engineering is highly desirable.

Responsibilities will include:

• Assist with the production of new electrical designs from concept through to final manufacture.
• Undertaking design validation via calculation for electrical systems and equipment.
• Applying analysis outputs to demonstrate compliance with safety, functional and performance requirements.
• Liaising with test facilities, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers as required to satisfy the needs of a project.
• Undertaking testing of designed systems with a hands-on approach.
• Work in our on-site test facility to produce prototype set ups to verify electrical designs.
• Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle and an ability to apply good systems engineering practices to your work.
• Executing duties in accordance with Company procedures for training, health and safety, personnel, quality, and project requirements.
• Controlled issuing of drawings for production.
• Work with specialist subject areas including hydraulic systems, and cooling systems.
• Assist with the team to compile/collate vessel electrical test documents for first of class build.
• Assist with production of Bill of Materials/part creation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

• Marine electrical background with minimum of 5 years industry experience or a degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Experience working with 3D CAD systems is advantageous but not critical.

• Maritime experience is a plus, but whatever your track record, high levels of technical expertise, personal drive and strong communication skills are particularly important.

• Experience with preparing and design specifications.

• Hazardous DC Voltages and CAN Bus experience is advantageous but not critical.

• Working with a close-knit team in design and development.

• Well-developed engineering skills with a strong understanding of electrical systems.

• Build, test and commissioning experience.

• A proactive individual with strong commitment and self-motivation.

• Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity - Lateral thinking is encouraged.
