Job summary

Ultra Maritime, part of Ultra Electronics Group, in Victor, NY, seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop and test digital and analog circuits for advanced ASW systems. You will work on sonobuoy receivers, RF front-end modules, and DSP electronics, focusing on requirements analysis, design, testing, and customer verification.

You will mentor junior engineers, perform lab work, and collaborate with a team reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing digital and analog circuits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of electronic circuit design – analog, digital, power, RF assemblies.
• Experience with electrical CAD software and circuit analysis tools.
• Experience debugging hardware using test equipment.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Position Summary

Ultra Maritime’s Electrical Engineering team in Victor, NY supports the development and production of cutting-edge Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) technology. In this role you would design, develop, and test electronic equipment, components, circuits, and systems. You will work with a team that supports the design, production, and testing of advanced ASW receiver systems, including sonobuoy receivers, RF front-end modules, and digital signal processing electronics. This includes requirements analysis, design and implementation, development testing, and support of final customer verification and validation. You will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Job Description Responsibilities

• Design and development of digital and analog circuits. This includes supporting component selection, electrical design, schematic capture, and defining design constraints for board layout.
• Oversight for design deliverables such as design documentation and reviews.
• Design support activities such as DFMEA creation and reliability estimation.
• Provide electrical engineering input into project estimation, planning and execution.
• Creation of technical documentation such as requirements specifications and procedures.
• Hands on laboratory work will be required for testing and debug, equipment construction, and other activities as required.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and development.
• Some travel may be required.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing digital and analog circuits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with peers and senior management.
• Extensive knowledge of electronic circuit design – analog, digital, power, RF assemblies.
• Experience with electrical CAD software such as Altium, OrCAD, or Pads, and circuit analysis tools such as LTSpice.
• Experience analyzing and debugging hardware using test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, network analyzers or spectrum analyzers.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.

Desired Skills

• PCB layout experience with multilayer boards.
• Proficiency with high speed digital design or RF PCB design and associated toolsets.
• Familiarity with writing scripts (Python, Bash, etc.) or software (C, C++, Java).
• Knowledge of JTAG boundary scan test tools.

Expected Compensation

• The expected compensation range for this role is $134,368.00 - $167,960.00. Please note this represents the expected range. Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate’s relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
