Job Description:

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for producing construction documents from initial design to bidding under the supervision of a senior engineer. Responsibilities include developing electrical wiring diagrams, device layouts, and panel layouts. The engineer will compile specifications as part of the design packet. Effective cross-functional communication is necessary to gain project support and ensure schedule compliance. The engineer will collaborate with material-handling vendors, conveyor manufacturers, electrical control manufacturers, and consultants to ensure compliance with UPS standards and safety regulations. The final project should incorporate the latest engineering technologies to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions in the material-handling industry.

  • Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate – Required (not remote)
  • Location: GACOR, 55 Glenlake Parkway NE, Atlanta, GA 30328
  • Job Level: Supervisor
  • Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Knowledge and Skills
  • Design, implement, and improve electrical equipment, facilities, or systems for industrial purposes.
  • Project Planning: Develop and execute project management plans for short-term projects with limited resources; support initiatives with well-defined needs; employ project management tools appropriately.
  • Business, Financial, and Industry Knowledge: Understand industry and financial trends impacting UPS and customers; recognize organizational structures and functions.
  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Understand vendor needs and goals; review and recommend vendors; contribute to vendor contracts; communicate expectations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to balance big picture concepts and detailed facts to ensure tasks are completed accurately and effectively.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering – Required
  • Experience designing solutions for process improvement – Required
  • Strong electrical aptitude for understanding and troubleshooting control systems and equipment interfaces – Required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Outlook) – Required
  • Proficient in advanced 2D drafting using AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN experience is a plus – Preferred
  • Experience in industrial automation – Preferred
  • Two years of experience evaluating bid proposals – Preferred
  • Flexible travel schedule (including weekends) – Required
