Job Description:

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for producing construction documents from initial design to bidding under the supervision of a senior engineer. Responsibilities include developing electrical wiring diagrams, device layouts, panel layouts, and compiling specifications. The engineer must effectively communicate cross-functionally to gain project support and drive schedule compliance, collaborating with material-handling vendors, conveyor manufacturers, electrical control manufacturers, and consultants to ensure compliance with UPS standards and safety regulations. The final project should incorporate the latest engineering technologies to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions in the material-handling industry.

  • Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate (not remote)
  • Location: GACOR, 55 Glenlake Parkway NE, Atlanta, GA 30328
  • Job Level: Supervisor
  • Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Design, implement, and improve electrical equipment, facilities, or systems for industrial purposes.
  • Project Planning: Develop and execute project management plans for basic projects of short duration, supporting initiatives with well-defined needs and cross-functional roles throughout the project lifecycle, employing appropriate project management tools.
  • Business, Financial, and Industry Knowledge: Understand industry and financial trends impacting UPS and customers; identify organizational structures and functions.
  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Understand UPS and vendor business needs; review and recommend vendors; contribute to vendor contracts; communicate expectations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to distinguish between big picture concepts and detailed facts, ensuring tasks are completed accurately to impact end goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering (Required)
  • Experience designing solutions for process improvement (Required)
  • Strong electrical aptitude to troubleshoot control systems and equipment interfaces (Required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Outlook) (Required)
  • Proficient in advanced 2D drafting, utilizing AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN experience is a plus (Preferred)
  • Experience in industrial automation (Preferred)
  • Two years of experience evaluating bid proposals (Preferred)
  • Flexible travel schedule, including weekends (Required)
