Job summary

UT Austin is seeking a Temporary Electrical and Control Technician I to support the Utilities and Energy Management department (UTEMPS) on the UT Main Campus. The role is 40 hours weekly with a 9-80 schedule and a projected end date of Aug 31, 2027.

A Texas driver license and clean driving record are required. Responsibilities include installing, retrofitting, and maintaining low/medium-voltage equipment, switches, PLCs, DCS, UPS, and related systems in a power and chill water setting, complying

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• At least 2-years of apprentice-level experience in electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Hold a current Texas apprentice electrician license or attain one within 3-months of hire on date.

Responsibilities

• Assists in performing journey-level installation, retrofit, and modification of low and medium-voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, lighting, battery equipment, motors, motor starters, VFD's, soft-starters, PLCs, DCS, UPSs, and ATS systems.
• And other electrical and controls-related items in a power and chill water production environment. Maintains compliance with the National Electric Code.
