Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Temporary Electrical and Control Technician I for the Utilities and Energy Management group (UTEMPS) on the UT Main Campus. This 40-hour workweek position supports ongoing upgrades and projects, performing installation, retrofit and maintenance of switchgear, VFDs, PLCs, DCS, UPSs, ATS and related controls in a power and chill water environment.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of apprentice-level

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of apprentice-level experience in electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Texas apprentice electrician license required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Install, retrofit, and maintain low and medium-voltage equipment and related controls.
• Ensure compliance with the National Electric Code in a power and chill water production environment.
