Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical in Suffolk, Virginia, is hiring a Procurement Specialist to manage sourcing, supplier negotiations, and purchasing processes.

This full-time role requires coordinating with project managers, operations, warehouse staff, and accounting to ensure timely, compliant procurement. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of electrical construction material procurement experience, strong MS Office skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Qualifications

• 2 years' recent electrical construction material procurement or related experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of procurement/vendor inspection techniques, procedures, and working knowledge of accounting, financial management and business contract law.
• Proficient MS Office/Excel knowledge.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Source suppliers and obtain competitive quotations to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
• Review purchase requisitions for completeness, accuracy, budget alignment, and proper approvals.
• Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, warehouse personnel, and accounting staff to meet purchasing needs.
• Initiate or receive field purchase requisitions, log and assign PO numbers, route for approvals.
• Assist with vendor qualification, onboarding, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain procurement records, contracts, vendor files, and purchasing documentation.
• Research vendor prices, delivery dates, etc. through bids or quotes.
• Negotiate and place purchase orders and change orders with vendors; prepare documentation.
• Negotiate equipment rental agreements; document terms and insurance forms.
• Negotiate long-term or blanket POs for routine materials and administer contracts.
• Expedite deliveries, resolve invoice issues with Accounting, and coordinate with Engineering and Material Control.
• Comply with company and customer safety policies and procedures.
