Job summary

The Coteau Properties Company is offering a 15-month co-op (trainee) program designed for students pursuing an associate or technical degree. You will assist in inspecting and maintaining electrical systems at a surface lignite coal mine, perform inspections under MSHA guidance, and operate support equipment in all weather conditions.

This paid internship requires enrollment in an accredited electrical program, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work both independently and in a team,

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited electrical program in good academic standing.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment, devices, wiring, switchgear, and related mine equipment in the shop and field.
• Work with different voltage electrical systems.
• Work with trail cable and electrical boxes.
• Assist with MSHA electrical inspections on mine equipment.
• Operate support equipment.
• Perform duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
