Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an engineering designer intern to develop and update 3D Inventory parts, assemblies, and drawings using CAD tools. You will also work on 2D AutoCAD Electrical drawings and contribute to project documentation in a structured office environment based at Roanoke, VA.

The role emphasizes learning CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor and Vault, plus basic office applications, with a sedentary to light activity profile and onsite five days a week.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year toward an AAS in CAD or engineering technology or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old; graduation date Dec 2027 or later; GPA 3.0+.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Support documents for facilities and equipment, including construction and records.
• Obtain information from verbal, sketches, field notes, and catalogs to perform work.
