Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical BIM Designer to join the MEP BIM team for data center facilities.

You will design electrical systems using Revit, build and maintain BIM models, and prepare construction documents for one-lines, switchgear, UPS, and power distribution. The role requires 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in critical facilities, plus NEC knowledge and proficiency with Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in Revit for BIM modeling and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of NEC and electrical safety regulations.
• Experience with data-center electrical design and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for data centers using Revit and maintain BIM models.
• Perform electrical calculations including short‑circuit, arc‑flash, voltage drop, raceway and conductor sizing, and grounding sizing.
• Prepare and publish detailed construction documentation and update models.
• Coordinate with internal MEP groups, other trades, external suppliers, and contractors.
• Support field evaluations at data-center sites.

Electrical BIM Designer, DC Design Engineering

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Designer with a passion for BIM to join our highly creative and efficient MEP BIM team. Your role will involve designing complex projects for Amazon‑owned data center facilities, preparing electrical BIM models, construction documents, and supporting the Central Engineering Team. You will influence design documents for one‑lines, switchgear, UPS, panelboards, transformers, power, lighting, control systems, grounding, fire alarm systems, short‑circuit and arc‑flash analysis, and cable tray pathways for Ethernet and fiber systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for data centers using Revit and create and maintain BIM models.
• Perform electrical engineering calculations, including short‑circuit, arc‑flash, voltage drop, raceway and conductor sizing, and grounding system sizing.
• Prepare and publish detailed construction documentation and update existing models as required.
• Assist in creating and maintaining standard regional BIM templates and participate in design coordination meetings for clash detection and resolution.
• Coordinate with internal MEP groups, other trades, external suppliers, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
• Support information exchange and construction‑phase requests, including traveling to data‑center sites for evaluations and surveys.
• Record and report key metrics to management and provide creative solutions to improve designs.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil & gas).
• 4+ years of commissioning experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in Revit for producing electrical BIM models and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of NEC and electrical safety regulations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to conduct lighting illumination calculations.
• Understanding of power distribution representation via single‑line diagrams, plans, and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with building codes and regulations in your region.
• Experience developing Revit family content, Dynamo scripts, and RF Tools.
• Familiarity with BIMForum LOD Specification, AIA, and NBIMS standards.
• Construction observation experience and familiarity with construction technology and practices.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $116,800 – $160,000 USD annually (Austin, TX; Herndon, VA; Seattle, WA).
