Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Assistant Engineer I at the Weymouth Filtration Plant in La Verne, CA. The role focuses on learning and assisting with construction inspections, contract administration, and on-site coordination across design, project management, and operations teams.

You will support reviewing submittals, RFIs, cost estimates, and documentation to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hire date.
• License(s): Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist with construction inspections to verify contract compliance.
• Learn and assist with reviewing contractor submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation.
• Learn and assist with reviewing work plans, procedures, schedules, and payment requests; develop independent cost estimates.
• Investigate construction deficiencies and document findings to support corrective actions.
• Document construction activities, maintain project records, and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to support project delivery.
