Job summary

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Engineering Technician I (Corrosion) to join the Corrosion Engineering Team in the Infrastructure Reliability Unit at the Weymouth Filtration Plant in La Verne, CA. This entry-level role supports reliability assessments and uses both destructive and non-destructive testing to evaluate infrastructure and materials.

You will learn testing techniques, assist with performance testing, and contribute to ensuring safe and dependable

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of accredited college/engineering coursework or two years relevant experience.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop and field infrastructure reliability assessments on equipment such as pressure vessels, tanks, pipelines, pumps, and water treatment equipment.
• Utilize non-destructive testing methods to inspect infrastructure for damage or corrosion.
• Utilize destructive testing equipment to determine materials properties.
• Test metals, polymers, elastomers, and coatings to verify performance characteristics.
