Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is hiring a Survey and Mapping Technician II for the Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne, CA. This is an intermediate field role reporting to the Weymouth plant and supporting survey teams across projects involving pipelines and facilities.

You will work with senior staff on diverse field surveys, use 3D laser scanning, survey equipment, and mathematical methods to ensure accurate measurements and data interpretation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with progressive survey work experience or two years in a related capacity.
• Associate degree plus two years of relevant survey experience, or two years in the MWD Technician I class.
• Experience with field surveying, mapping, and calculations using survey tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist field surveys with senior staff on diverse projects.
• Support topographic, construction, and pipeline surveys.
• Assist with precision staking for right-of-way and pipelines.
• Utilize 3D laser scanning and modern survey equipment.
• Apply geometry and trigonometry for precise measurements.
• Interpret field results and process project measurements.
• Support senior personnel through all phases of surveying.
