Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Engineering Technician I (Corrosion) to join the Corrosion Engineering Team in the Infrastructure Reliability Unit at the Weymouth Filtration Plant in La Verne, CA. This entry‑level role supports infrastructure reliability assessments and materials testing.

You will learn and assist with destructive and non‑destructive testing, corrosion analysis, and testing of metals, polymers, elastomers, and coatings to verify performance

Qualifications

• Education/experience required: high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of eng. coursework or related experience.
• Relevant experience includes testing, lab work, and infrastructure condition assessment, NDT, ASTM testing, corrosion science, or construction inspection.
• License: California Class C Driver’s License required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Perform infrastructure reliability assessments on equipment such as pressure vessels, pipelines, pumps, and water treatment gear.
• Use NDT and destructive testing methods to evaluate materials and detect damage or corrosion.
• Conduct construction materials testing on metals, polymers, elastomers, and coatings to verify performance.
• Support corrosion engineering initiatives within the Infrastructure Reliability Unit.
