Job description

Facility Optimization Solutions, LLC (FOS) is a subsidiary of CannonDesign.

Key Responsibilities

At FOS, it’s all about the people. We’re constantly growing, and that’s where this new opportunity comes in. In this position, the ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting facility condition assessments of the electrical and low‑voltage systems for various building types, including healthcare, education, sports, municipal, and commercial facilities across the US. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who gets restless sitting behind a desk and likes to travel! Candidates who do well in this role often have a background as a Journeyman or Master Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, and/or Instrumentational and Electrical Technician for an institutional employer. Projects are typically short and range from one to six months. Field deployments are typically one week in length and usually not more than two per month.

  • Conduct on‑site facility assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team on existing buildings, evaluating building electrical systems, including emergency power, photovoltaic, fire alarm, security, data communication, and surveillance systems.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with client and other on‑site personnel to assess client assets; maintain an average daily walk rate of 125–250k square feet.
  • Determine the condition, remaining useful life, required costs, and remedial measures for electrical and low‑voltage systems.
  • Provide technical identification and description of deficiencies ranging from concerns to critical issues.
  • Identify recommendations for correction and describe them with sufficient technical detail for future project planning and cost estimating.
  • Interview building operations and maintenance staff to determine building history, previous work orders, and operations information; prepare project progress documentation for project manager review.
  • Review work of peers; actively participate in post‑project reviews.
  • May handle other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of related work experience required.
  • Direct experience in conducting architectural facility condition assessments strongly preferred.
  • Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
  • Prior cost estimating experience is valued but not required.
  • Registration, licensure or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required, as well as a clear aptitude for tablet and mobile device usage.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision, Adobe Suite, and Bluebeam, valued but not required.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 40% for out‑of‑town assignments; on average, projects include one week in the field, followed by two weeks in office.
  • Must be physically able to walk the stated areas each day, climb fixed and sometimes extension ladders, walk on roof surfaces up to a 3/12 slope.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $76,200 to $95,200 annually. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending account options, voluntary insurance, paid time off, flex‑time schedules, remote work options, a 401(k) plan, and employee perk programs.

  • Flexible work schedules! We offer a hybrid model, so you can work from home and/or work from the office.
  • Competitive benefits package, including generous paid time off policy.
  • An inclusive work environment that encourages employees to demonstrate their strengths and passions toward achieving personal and organizational goals.
  • Coaching with leadership that enables professional growth for future career pathing.
  • The opportunity to work for a growing team with proven success.

As a condition of employment, all employees are expected to complete mandatory training, including compliance training, within required time frames and adhere to our internal policies and our Code of Conduct.
