Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking an entry-level helper to assist skilled craftspersons by performing supervised duties and supporting electrical installation and repairs. You will learn to interpret drawings and plan work with supervision.

Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, bending conduit, wiring, testing systems, and using hand and power tools; wear safety equipment and work outdoors in all weather; overtime nights and weekends as required.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to interpret drawings, sketches, software, plans and determine best work procedures and tools.
• Assist skilled craftsman measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit; weld supports; install cable and duct banks; make terminations.
• Assist with installation of control and distribution apparatus and fasten in place; test and startup systems for electrical compatibility and safety.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• May be required to pull wire through conduit and connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
• Work with high and low voltage systems; assist in disassembly and repair of defective electrical equipment or systems.
• Learn to operate electrical and mechanical hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic tools.
