Job summary

GFT is seeking a highly qualified Cost Engineer / Estimator to support major electric utility transmission and substation projects. This position can be remote with periodic travel to client offices and project sites.

This role will work closely with the Senior Substation Estimator, Project Managers, Engineers, and Construction Managers to develop construction cost estimates, support procurement activities, maintain cost databases, review contractor pricing, and assist with project forecasting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 3–7 years of estimating, cost engineering, or project controls experience.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and cost development.
• Strong Excel and cost analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Cost Estimating Support: prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed estimates; perform quantity takeoffs; gather pricing; develop worksheets and bid summaries.
• Bid Evaluation & Procurement Support: assist with bid evaluations; prepare bid tabulations; research pricing; review quotations.
• Cost Engineering & Financial Analysis: assist budgeting/forecasts; track variance; support cash flow forecasts; perform monthly cost reporting.
• Change Management Support: review change orders; perform quantity and pricing checks; develop independent estimates; track cost impacts.
• Project Controls Integration: collaborate with project controls; develop cost reports and dashboards; support earned value reporting.
