Job summary

Sitka, City and Borough of (AK) seeks a skilled Journeyman Lineman to inspect, repair, install and maintain all classes of overhead and underground power transmission and distribution lines, and substations in Sitka, in a safe manner. This position may direct the work of Apprentice Linemen and collaborates with other department employees to ensure safe operation of the utility system.

Under the General Foreman, the employee works independently on assigned duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman Lineman certification or license.
• Alaska Certificate of Fitness within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, install and maintain overhead and underground power lines and substations.
• Operate heavy equipment and climb poles or buckets for access.
• Investigate outages and perform safety checks as part of routine duties.
• Collaborate with department staff to ensure safe and coordinated operation.
