Job summary

City of College Station is seeking an Electric Safety and Training Coordinator under the Electric Compliance Officer to lead the safety and training program for the Electric department, including developing courses, facilitating safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, HazCom, and related industry standards.

The role involves field safety audits, PPE program management, DOT/FMCSA oversight, and collaboration with Facilities and HR to maintain equipment and safety tests.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Safety or related field required; three years’ electric utility experience preferred.
• Journeyman Lineman Certification may substitute for education/experience.
• Texas Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and sustain electric-specific safety and training programs and courses.
• Conduct field safety audits and recommend corrective actions to address issues.
• Manage PPE program logistics, inspections, and compliance tracking (OSHA/NFPA 70E).
• Coordinate DOT/FMCSA vehicle tracking and dielectric testing for fleet.
• Collaborate with Facilities and HR to ensure equipment testing and maintenance schedules.
• Investigate workplace incidents with Risk Management to identify root causes.
• Serve as technical resource on electrical safety, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
