Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Shop Technician in Elkridge, Maryland. The EPG Shop Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing basic operational failures to electrical generator systems and basic engine failures or related components. Candidates must have previous experience diagnosing and troubleshooting basic engine failures and performing mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment or completed the EPG Apprenticeship program. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Physical requirements must be met for the EPG Shop Technician job, including: regularly standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and talking or hearing. The employee is frequently required to sit and must be capable of lifting up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Starting Compensation Range: $28.11 - $40.30 per hour

Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, skills, candidate qualifications, education, geographic location, and other relevant business factors. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
