Job summary

AEP seeks a Line Mechanic D to assist in installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. You may operate and climb on overhead/underground equipment after training, with progression to more advanced equipment as skill improves.

Candidate must live within 45 minutes of Christiansburg Service Center; relocation at own expense may be needed. High school diploma or GED required; no experience required, but line work experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Line work experience or line school preferred; no experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead and underground facilities.
• Demonstrate ground person duties under supervision.
• Assist with loading/unloading and installation of poles, towers, and structures.
• After D-100, learn to operate basic company equipment and climb poles.
• Progress to operating digger/derrick and aerial devices after training.
