Job summary

AEP in Indiana is seeking a Line Mechanic Apprentice to assist with installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. You will work on overhead and underground systems, learn to climb poles, and operate equipment under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with no experience required, though line work experience is preferred. A valid driver's license and CDL permit within 60 days are necessary, along with a HireVue assessment

Responsibilities

Assist with installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities.
Assist with loading/unloading poles, towers and structures.
Operate company equipment after training; climb poles and work on de-energized conductors.
Work on energized conductors up to 260 volts under supervision.
Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and work area; report irregularities.
Travel as required; live within 45-minute driving distance of service centers.
