Job summary

AEP is seeking a Transmission Line Mechanic Apprentice in the United States. You will assist with installation, maintenance and inspection of overhead and underground facilities, working with line personnel and equipment.

The role requires working around energized components under supervision, obtaining a CDL beginner permit within 60 days, and meeting safety and travel expectations. High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Line work experience or line school education preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• CDL beginner permit within 60 days.
• HireVue Line Worker assessment and a physical abilities assessment required.
• Must live within a 45-minute driving distance of the service center.
• Overtime and travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance and inspection of overhead and underground facilities.
• Assist with loading, unloading, handling and installing poles, towers and structures.
• Operate line equipment and climb poles under supervision as skill dictates.
• Read meters and record readings; maintain accurate reports.
• Progress through supervision levels as training advances.
