Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in electric utility or related industry.
• Completion of the Assistant Manager training program, or equivalent experience.
• Previous supervisory experience or completion of Assistant Manager training.
• Demonstrated management, administrative, supervisory and leadership skills.
• Flexible and available for after-hour emergencies on short notice.
• Ability to lead, motivate and influence employees.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and mainframe applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must live within assigned work area to support daily and after hours issues.
• Ability to handle confidential information in communications.
• Travel may be required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, design, building, maintenance, switching and control of electrical distribution and transmission systems.
• Analyze market and competition to identify external threats and opportunities.
• Adapt strategy to changing conditions and support those affected by change.
• Implement strategic objectives, strategies and plans in line with company goals.
• Manage and allocate financial and employee resources.
• Establish and adhere to department budget.
• Promote safety through leadership.
• Respond to after-hour emergencies related to the electrical system.
• Manage schedules and complete annual substation maintenance or capital work.
• Perform inspections and field audits of maintenance and capital work.
• Deliver a zero-accident workplace message consistently.
• Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop employees.
• Implement and deliver more efficient ways to perform the job.
