Job summary

City and County of San Francisco seeks a Public Service Clerk for the November 3, 2026 election. The role is on-site at City Hall, with 20–40 hours per week, and involves phone-based information, in-person and email inquiries, and Ballot Delivery Program support.

The ideal candidate will have clerical experience, be a quick learner, and provide professional, nonpartisan assistance to voters, campaigns, and the public.

Qualifications

• One year of clerical experience including preparing and maintaining records, filing, mail processing.
• Substitution: SF Clerical Administrative Training program, 240 hours, or 15 semester units may substitute for up to 6 months of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer a high volume of calls with courteous, nonpartisan information.
• Assist callers navigating the website and completing required paperwork.
• Address campaign and voter inquiries by phone and route to appropriate staff.
• Inform voters of participation options and legal requirements.
• Support Ballot Delivery Program by preparing materials and updating voter records.
• Deliver ballots to eligible voters following procedures.
• Review filing paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
• Facilitate observation tours and staff community event tables.
• Assist with post-election ballot processing.
