Job summary

Black to the Future Action Fund is seeking a part-time Election Impact Team Lead to guide up to five organizers in daily voter outreach. You will build relationships with community leaders and coordinate canvassing through door-to-door outreach, calls, texts, social posts, and events.

You will train volunteers, ensure accurate data entry into MiniVAN, and submit daily reports while meeting voter-contact goals. A personal smartphone is required to perform tasks.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading or coordinating a team, with comfort giving and receiving performance feedback.
  • Ability to train and support volunteers.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Reliability and follow-through — arriving on time and prepared, and helping your team do the same.
  • Comfort using a smartphone, web browser, and the MiniVAN app to record voter responses, send texts, make calls, and post on social media.
  • Ability to read a map and follow an assigned route, including rural areas.
  • Flexibility and adaptability as the needs of the Election Impact Team change.
  • Willingness to attend mandatory orientation and trainings.

Job description

Black to the Future Action Fundis a 501(c)(4) that works to transform Black communities into constituencies that build independent, progressive Black political power in cities and states, enacting policy that improves the lives of Black people so that Black people have what all people deserve — dignity, safety, and power. This is a shared position with its sister organization,Black Futures Lab, a 501(c)(3) that transforms Black communities into constituencies that wield independent political power at the municipal, state, and federal levels.

The problems Black communities facearecomplex, and the solutions require imagination, experimentation, and political power. Together, we combine strategies that help us imagine the alternatives we deserve with the organizing that builds the power to make them real.

The Voter Outreach Team Leadleads a team of up to five Election Impact Organizers — social justice advocates who inform and mobilize voters through door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, social media, and community events. Our goal is toimpactthe 2026 General Election by engaging Black voters on the issues that matter most to them and energizing them to head to the polls. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Elections Campaigns.

What You’ll Do:

What We’re Looking For:

  • Reliability and follow-through — arriving on time and prepared at staging locations, events, and meetings, and helping your team do the same
  • Comfort using a smartphone, web browser, and theMiniVAN app to record voter responses, send texts, make calls, andsubmitsocial media posts (a personal smartphone compatible withMiniVAN, able to send texts and take photos, isrequired)
  • Ability to read a map and follow an assigned route, including across rural roads and turf
  • Flexibility and adaptability as the needs of the Election Impact Team change
  • Willingness to attend mandatory orientation and all trainings
Helpful, but not required:
  • Previous experience with a campaign, community organization, sales, or customer service
  • Existing relationships with local community groups and organizations
  • BilingualEnglish–SpanishorEnglish–HaitianCreole
Physical Requirements:
  • This role can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Door-to-door canvassing involves covering assigned turf that can span several miles per shift, often with homes spread far apart and across uneven terrain or roads without sidewalks
  • Standing and walking for up to about 4 hours per shift in varying weather, and carrying up to 10 pounds
  • Phone and text banking involves working through call and text lists using a provided script
Travel:
  • Team Leadsare responsible forgetting themselves to assigned staging locations and turf.A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle during working hours isrequired.
  • If you choose to use a personal vehicle and would like mileage reimbursement, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance arerequired, and reimbursement is provided at the federal mileage rate.
Position Type and Compensation:
  • Part-time, temporary, non-exempt (hourly)
  • Estimated late August through early November
  • Up to 25 hours per week
  • $25.00 per hour
  • Mileage reimbursement available at the federal mileage rate for approved personal-vehicle use
