Job summary

Greene Resources in New Bern, NC is seeking an Election Equipment Field Technician for a full-time direct-hire role. The position includes weekly overnight travel within our client territory to install, upgrade, and test election hardware and software.

You will troubleshoot on-site, perform preventive maintenance, document work orders, and manage parts inventory while delivering customer training on setup and care of equipment.

Qualifications

• No prior election equipment experience is required; structured technical training will be provided.
• Prior experience with converting internal documentation processes into actionable training materials and in-person training is highly desired.
• Any prior experience in the elections industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of all hardware and software systems used by the elections equipment manufacturer.
• Perform installation and upgrades of election equipment, regular preventive maintenance, and readiness testing of hardware and software.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for election equipment, addressing mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues.
• Complete assigned work orders and document repairs and maintenance activities clearly.

Greene Resources is seeking an Election Equipment Field Technician to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description

1. Develop an understanding of all hardware and software systems utilized by our elections equipment manufacturer.
2. Perform installation and upgrades of election equipment, ongoing preventive maintenance, and comprehensive readiness testing of all election hardware and software components.
3. Provide on-site troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for election equipment, addressing mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues to support ongoing operation.
4. Complete assigned work orders and provide detailed documentation of all repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment condition.
5. Manage equipment parts inventory with accuracy and security, ensuring timely return of defective components.
6. Provide internal cross-training and deliver on-site customer training on the setup, operation, and care of election equipment.

Position Requirements

1. Ability to master and convey the mechanics of how our customers’ voting equipment functions from both a hardware and software perspective.
2. Basic computer literacy is helpful for documentation and diagnostics.
3. Ability to apply learned knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills with end-users, customers, and coworkers.
5. Precise attention to accuracy and detail.
6. Ability to multitask and prioritize this position’s various initiatives and responsibilities during high-volume workloads.
7. Ability to stand, sit, or bend for extended periods throughout the workday.
8. Must be able to lift and/or move up to eighty (80) pounds regularly throughout the workday.
9. Ability to operate a non-commercial (“standard”) motor vehicle for travel responsibilities.
10. Ability to occasionally handle a commercial vehicle (i.e., panel truck) as special projects demand.
