Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain certification in election equipment functionality and software.

Job description

Supervises day-to-day tasks for the Voting Equipment Technicians by prioritizing, scheduling, and organizing workload to meet deadlines. Oversees the assembly of election supply kits for all elections. Oversees temporary staffing to help with equipment delivery, supply distribution and other duties as needed for each election. Requests trucks and vans needed for runners (early voting and election day) and delivery personnel as required for each election. Trains and evaluates employees as well as handles difficult operational problems.

1. Supervises the Voting Equipment Technicians and subordinate and temporary staff, providing training and guidance as required.

2. Assists with planning and assigning daily workload for the Operations area. Prioritizes, schedules and organizes workload to meet deadlines for each election.

3. Evaluates Voting Equipment Technicians and subordinate staffs' performance by identifying strengths and weaknesses, providing development and motivation, and making hiring recommendations as necessary.

4. Records and tracks the scheduled and corrective maintenance of voting and support equipment and department vehicles to ensure maximum performance and availability (including but not limited to EECs, racks, tubs, forklifts, pallet jacks, and trailers).

5. Requisitions trucks, vans, and temporary staff to help with equipment delivery, supply distribution and other duties as required for each election. Requisitions supplies needed to maintain support equipment and voting equipment.

6. Assists with election activities, troubleshooting and answering calls from elections officials about voting equipment and procedures.

7. Participates in testing of voting equipment (pre-test, post-test, and public testing).

8. Submits requisitions for voting equipment and supplies and tracks requisitions, purchase orders, and purchase deliveries to ensure receipt. Provides proof of delivery documentation as required.

9. Oversees the preparation, proofing, assembly, and delivery of the election official supply kits.

10. Provides reports to managers and supervisors as required.

11. Enforces established procedures and performs quality checks of work performed by departmental staff, making corrections as necessary.

12. Coordinates with other areas and departments to expedite work and improve performance.

13. Acts as a liaison between County Elections, political parties, and entities for election activities as required.

14. Acts as first-level resource for staff questions regarding customer issues, policies, etc.

15. In absence of Manager, serves as point-of-contact with the County Facilities Department regarding building maintenance.

16. Participates in personnel matters including disciplinary actions and resolution of departmental disputes. Provides input for department budget as it relates to voting equipment and supplies.

17. Ensures the security of in-person voting equipment, electronic tabulators, and results files for the Ballot Board Judge and accumulation systems.

18. Attends training as assigned by manager or as required to maintain, enhance, or acquire job skills.

19. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  • Associate's degree or equivalent and three (3) years related (elections or warehouse) experience.
  • Background in relational database preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred. Technical background and experience in Election Management preferred.
  • Valid and current driver license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to obtain certification in election equipment functionality and software.
  • Must be able to guide the work for a large staff.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stoop, bend, grasp, climb, pull, and push.
