Zusammenfassung

Grand Haven City Hall seeks an Election Inspector to assist at polling locations and receiving boards under the City Clerk’s Office. Duties include clerical tasks, assisting with closing procedures, and ensuring accurate election materials and procedures are followed.

You will provide courteous service to voters and staff, safeguard ballots and records, and comply with Michigan election laws. This is an intermittent, on-site role requiring training and prior certification.

Qualifikationen

• Must be a registered voter in Michigan or a student at least 16 by Election Day.
• Must obtain and maintain Election Inspector certification through Ottawa County Clerk’s Office.
• Must complete all required online or in-person training.
• Current or prior Election Inspector certification through Ottawa County is required.
• Prior experience as Precinct Chairperson or in a City Clerk’s Office is preferred.
• Previous Election Day experience on precinct, absentee ballot counting board, or receiving board is required.

• Assist with Election Day duties and precinct-closing procedures.
• Review election paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
• Seal ballot containers and secure election materials per procedures.
• Ensure receiving board duties comply with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Perform quality-control reviews to confirm duties have been completed.
• Resolve procedural/operational issues during closing or receiving board processes.
• Follow Michigan election laws and procedures to tally, document, and account for votes.
• Provide courteous, professional assistance to voters, election workers, City staff, and the public.
• Safeguard ballots, records, equipment, and confidential materials.
• Attend and complete required election inspector training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the City Clerk.
