Job summary

The North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) is hiring a Database Manager II to lead the Data Unit and oversee SQL Server environments, analytics, and GIS workflows. You will guide data governance and reporting across statewide election systems, ensuring security and compliance.

You will supervise DBAs and analysts, drive data architecture, and advance data-driven decision-making within the IT Division to support critical infrastructure for elections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field and three years of progressive technical experience with supervisory capacity.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply per agency rules.

Responsibilities

• Directs all activities within the Data Unit including DBA, analytics, audits, and GIS functions.
• Oversees SQL Server environments, backups, replication, and performance optimization.
• Supervises reporting infrastructure, dashboards, and data visualizations for decision-making.
• Ensure data governance, security, and regulatory compliance across state election data.
• Lead GIS data workflows and spatial data integration with databases and analytics.
