Job description

About the Role

TorranceLearning is supporting a large-scale learning initiative for a critical Federal agency, developing a curriculum of self-paced elearning. We’re looking for experienced elearning course developers who can turn detailed storyboards into polished, responsive, and accessible learning experiences.

This is not an entry-level role. Working at this scale requires developers with the experience and judgment to build efficiently within an established production environment. You should be able to apply standards thoughtfully and consistently, maintain quality throughout development, troubleshoot issues, and recognize when an issue warrants broader team input.

Development will primarily occur in dominKnow Flow, although other modern authoring platforms may be used. You’ll work closely with instructional designers, visual designers, project managers, quality assurance (QA) specialists, and other developers.

Job Details

Pay
$60/hour, 1099 contractor

Hours
Approximately 15–35 hours/week, depending on project needs. This is project-based contract work, so weekly hours may fluctuate and are not guaranteed.

Location
Remote; work must be performed within the United States.

Schedule
Availability during Eastern Time business hours is required for team and client collaboration.

Clearance
Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance prior to contract start.

What You’ll Do
  • Build polished elearning modules from detailed storyboards, thoughtfully applying established layouts, interactions, templates, and development standards.

  • Ensure layouts, interactions, and course components work effectively across screen sizes and meet established accessibility requirements.

  • Maintain visual quality and consistency throughout development, including selecting, preparing, and editing visual assets and collaborating with visual designers on more specialized needs.

  • Incorporate internal and client feedback through iterative review cycles while maintaining consistency and avoiding regressions.

  • Self-QA and troubleshoot course builds throughout development, addressing functionality, responsive behavior, accessibility, and visual quality before formal review.

  • Raise questions, concerns, and blockers early, and collaborate with the broader project team when an issue requires additional input.

What You Bring
  • 3+ years of professional elearning development experience, including building polished, functional courses from detailed storyboards.

  • Experience developing elearning with modern authoring tools such as dominKnow Flow, Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.

  • Experience building responsive, mobile-first elearning that works effectively across screen sizes.

  • Experience developing accessible elearning and applying Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements throughout development.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-QA and troubleshoot course builds for functionality, responsive behavior, accessibility, and visual quality.

  • Experience applying visual design principles and standards within course builds, including selecting, preparing, and editing visual assets.

  • Experience working efficiently in a cross-functional development environment, communicating questions or concerns early and recognizing when broader team input is needed.

Nice to Have
  • Advanced experience with dominKnow Flow.

  • Experience with large-scale or multi-course learning projects.

  • Federal government or government-contractor experience.

  • Experience with graphic design or image-editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or similar tools.

  • Experience with SCORM and xAPI.

  • Experience using ClickUp or another project management platform.

  • Experience working in an Agile or iterative instructional design environment; LLAMA® experience is a plus.

Why This Role?

You’ll be part of a collaborative learning team doing meaningful work that supports a Federal initiative. If you enjoy bringing instructional designs to life, solving development challenges, and working with others to produce polished, accessible learning experiences, we’d love to hear from you.
