Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and attend activities and events for tribal elders based on input from elders.
  • Assist with resources available to elders.
  • Provide leadership to achieve department goals.
  • Oversee and maintain department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidential elder information and coordinate with other departments.
  • Keep monthly records of services and outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate trips and outings for elders.
  • Communicate Medicare and other elder benefits and assist with applications.

Job description

  • Position Title: Elders Coordinator
  • Department: Elders
  • Status: Part Time Non-Exempt
  • Grade: $34.24 hr.
  • Reports to: Executive Director
Position Summary

The Elders Coordinator is the main contact person for Stillaguamish tribal elders.They are responsible to plan, execute, and attend activities and events that are decided on by input from the tribal elders.The Elders Coordinator is also responsible to assist with resources available to elders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in carrying out the goals of the department.
  • Oversee, develop, and maintain department and program policies and procedures.
  • Deliver items for elder distribution.
  • Stay connected with tribal elders for their social needs.
  • Stay up-to‑date on Medicare, Social Security and other benefits and services for elders.
  • Communicate to tribal elders when it is time to apply for Medicare.Assist with the application process for Medicare.
  • Maintain open communication with other departments for coordination of elder services and benefits.
  • Maintain the confidential listing of all elders’ information, and communicate changes to other departments as needed.
  • Maintain open communication with tribal elders via internet, email, face‑to‑face contact, mail or phone calls.
  • Keep accurate monthly records of services provided, as well as all outreach efforts made to each elder.
  • Ensuring confidentiality in compliance with all applicable tribal and federal laws.
  • Coordinate trips and activities for the elders.
  • Transport and attend outings and gatherings with tribal elders when appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong desire and aptitude for working with the elders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Understanding of budget management.
  • Knowledge of social services programs for elders.
  • Ability to work closely with all departments for the benefit of the elders.
  • Knowledge of Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians laws regarding elders.
  • Knowledge of tribal culture.
  • Knowledge of resources available to tribal elders.
  • Ability to stay calm and respectful during intense situations.

Position Qualifications
  • Stillaguamish Tribal Elder preferred.
  • Associates degree or higher preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience working with older adults.
  • Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians is a drug free workplace.Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check annually.
  • Must possess a current Washington State Driver’s License and be insurable under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification that includes NARCAN training.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen Training required.
