Job summary

Universal Metro Aging Services in Elgin, IL seeks a compassionate Activities Assistant to support seniors and immigrant communities through engaging programs and daily care. You will collaborate with the Activity Coordinator to run group and one-to-one activities, assist with setup, lunch service, and item cleanup, and monitor each participant’s well-being.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; related Bachelor's or Associate degree preferred.
• Experience with older adults or adult day care is preferred.
• Must pass a physical exam; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to certify.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
• Self-motivated, creative, flexible and results-driven.
• Ability to be a productive team member.

Responsibilities

• Assist Activity Coordinator in implementing activity programs.
• Engage in group and one-to-one activities.
• Assist with setup and takedown of supplies and equipment.
• Assist with lunch and snack service and cleanup.
• Provide routine and specialized assistance to participants, including personal care.
• Observe and report changes in participant behavior or condition.
• Other related duties as appropriate or assigned.
