Job summary

Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida, part of ACCEL Schools, is seeking an ELA Content Coach to support teachers in grades 3–10 with standards-aligned curriculum, pacing and resources. This virtual role requires collaboration with teachers to monitor mastery and adjust pacing while ensuring alignment with state expectations.

Travel for in-person testing and events is required several times per year. Eligible Florida residents with strong ELA expertise are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education; Florida residency preferred.
• 5+ years in education with expertise in English Language Arts.
• Strong knowledge of ELA standards, curriculum, pacing and assessment (grades 3–10).
• Experience developing or monitoring curriculum maps and pacing guides.
• Ability to analyze standards-based student achievement data.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable using curriculum platforms, student data systems, spreadsheets and virtual learning platforms.
• Committed to standards mastery and student achievement.

Responsibilities

• Support ELA teachers in grades 3–10 with standards-aligned curriculum and pacing guides.
• Monitor instructional pacing to ensure priority standards are taught on time.
• Track which standards are introduced, taught, assessed, mastered, or require reinforcement.
• Help unpack ELA standards and clarify knowledge and skills for students.
• Review curriculum maps and resources to ensure alignment with grade-level standards.
• Analyze student achievement data to identify gaps and plan targeted instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers to adjust pacing based on performance and mastery.
• Identify prerequisite skills and standards needing revisiting to close gaps.
• Maintain vertical alignment across grades 3–10 and support progression of literacy skills.
• Assist teachers in prioritizing essential standards when time or performance demands adjustments.
• Monitor assessments to evaluate progress toward standards mastery.
• Facilitate content planning and data discussions focused on pacing and mastery.
• Recommend curriculum resources aligned to ELA standards and student needs.
• Collaborate with Instructional Coaches, teachers and leadership to align content with instruction.
• Maintain documentation related to pacing, mastery and instructional needs.
