Job summary

AdventHealth in Denver, CO is seeking a Healthcare Technician to perform specialized ECG testing and monitor patient status. You will maintain equipment, respond to Code Blue, and ensure accurate documentation of procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including Holter/event monitor application, signal-averaged EKG, and treadmill stress tests.
  • Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration; notifies biomed of malfunctions.
  • Recognizes abnormal ECGs and informs the healthcare team promptly.
  • Troubleshoots recording instrument malfunctions or patient issues affecting recordings.
  • Verifies patient information before procedures and ensures accurate documentation of tests.

Job Description
  • Performs specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including holter/event monitor application, signal-averaged EKG, and treadmill stress tests. Responds immediately to 'Code Blue' situations.
  • Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and machine calibration, and informs biomed when malfunctions occur.
  • Recognizes and acts upon unusual heart rhythms or patient responses by informing the primary healthcare team in a prompt manner.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings.
  • Confirms patient information and identification prior to starting procedures. Processes patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Communicates clearly and courteously with patients, families, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and other departments.
  • Provides emotional support to patients.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and serves as a patient advocate. Other duties as assigned.
  • Presents all urgent electrocardiogram results to appropriate personnel immediately after completion.
  • Performs routine and emergency electrocardiograms (EKGs) as ordered by physicians.
