Job summary

Responsibilities

Perform specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including holter/event monitor application, signal-averaged EKG, and treadmill stress tests. Respond immediately to "Code Blue" situations. Maintain and review equipment, ensuring proper function and machine calibration, and inform biomed when malfunctions occur. Recognize and act upon unusual heart rhythms or patient responses by informing the primary healthcare team promptly. Troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings. Confirm patient information and identification prior to starting procedures. Process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards. Communicate clearly and courteously with patients, families, visitors, co‑workers, physicians, and other departments. Provide emotional support to patients. Maintain patient confidentiality and serve as a patient advocate. Present all urgent electrocardiogram results to appropriate personnel immediately after completion. Perform routine and emergency electrocardiograms (EKGs) as ordered by physicians.

Education
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Work Experience
  • Previous patient care experience; on the job training [Required]
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) [Preferred]
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) [Preferred]
