Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking an EKG Technician to perform diagnostic electrocardiograms and support timely clinical decisions in a patient‑centered environment.

This full‑time role works 7:00am–3:30pm, every other weekend and 3 holidays; you will position leads, perform pacemaker interrogations, review records, monitor procedures, and maintain equipment while delivering compassionate, high‑quality care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required or preferred.
• Six months of experience in direct patient care or customer service OR completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program.

Responsibilities

• Position and connect leads from the electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
• Perform Cardiac Pacemaker Interrogations.
• Review patients records and instruct patients prior to procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures and report any abnormal findings.
• Identify and correct wandering, interference, and artifacts.
• Edit and forward results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
• Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 3:30pm including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service OR completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Healthcare experience
• Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program

Physical Requirements:

• Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
• Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
• Extensive walking and standing.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
