Job summary

Cleveland Clinic in Ohio is seeking an ECG/EEG technician to perform non-invasive diagnostic tests, including 12-lead ECGs, Holter monitor hookups, stress tests, and EEGs. You will process results around physician interpretations and ensure equipment readiness.

Travel within the hospital network is required; prior testing experience of at least six months is preferred. BLS certification is required to support patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Cardiac Technician and/or EEG program completion preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience as an ECG tech and stress testing preferred (min 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Performs 12-lead ECGs, Holter monitor hook-ups, stress testing, and EEG testing.
• Notify physicians, nurses or manager of abnormal results.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; travel to hospital locations as needed.
• Travel throughout the hospital system and to other locations as required.
• Process test results before and after physician interpretations.

Job description

Performs non-invasive diagnostic exams; 12-lead Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitor Hook-up. Event Monitor Hook-ups, cardiac Stress Tests and/or EEG testing. Prior to and following physician interpretations, processes test results. Troubleshoots diagnostic ECG equipment and notifies Clinical Engineering when necessary. Maintains supplies for testing.

Job Duties:

• Performs 12-lead Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitor Hook-Ups and Cardiac Stress Testing, including 24 hour, 48 hour, and 30 day event monitors, and/or EEG testing.
• Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and travel to other locations.
• Notifies physicians, nurses or manager of abnormal results.
• Notifies secretaries of needed supplies.
• Maintains equipment and notifies Clinical Engineering of on going problems that can not be resolved.

Education:

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Completion of a Cardiac Technician and/or EEG program preferred.

Certifications:

• Credentials as an Allied Health Professional preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross is required

Complexity of Work:

• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

• Minimum six months experience as an ECG tech and six months experience in Stress Testing preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Hand dexterity sufficient to handle ECG equipment and Holter monitors.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• May be required to lift up the 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.47

Maximum hourly: $23.61
