Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking an EKG Technician to join the Respiratory Care team. You will perform diagnostic electrocardiograms to support timely clinical decisions and provide patient-centered care in a high-quality environment.

In this role, you will position leads, monitor patients during testing, and ensure equipment is maintained. The schedule is 7:00am-3:30pm with some weekend or holiday coverage as described.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or Red Cross required.
• Six months of direct patient care or customer service experience OR completion of Cardiovascular Technology/Paramedic/Medical Assistant Program.

Responsibilities

• Position and connect leads from ECG machine to electrodes on designated body areas.
• Perform Cardiac Pacemaker Interrogations.
• Review patient records and instruct patients prior to procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures and report abnormal findings.
• Identify and correct wandering, interference, and artifacts.
• Edit and forward results to attending physician for analysis.
• Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.

As an Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, you will work with medically to critically ill patients, providing essential diagnostic EKGs used in their treatment. In this role, you will be responsive to patient needs and discomfort, work independently to enhance the healthcare experience, and offer continuous patient-centered care. You will perform diagnostic electrocardiograms to support timely and accurate clinical decisions. A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 3:30pm including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service OR completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Healthcare experience

• Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program

Physical Requirements:

• Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
• Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
• Extensive walking and standing.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
