Job summary

Celanese is seeking a Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety to lead the Shelby site’s Stewardship (EHS) systems and culture through people engagement, ownership of programs, and influence. Provides technical expertise, proactive actions, systematic services, and consultation on program/policy execution.

Qualifications

• BS degree in safety-related field, engineering, or environmental.
• 7+ years in chemical manufacturing with 3+ years in EHS role.
• Experience with air/water/waste regulations, permitting, and reporting.
• Strong leadership and cross-department influence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, sustain, and improve EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interact with regulatory agencies for permits, licenses, reporting, and responses.
• Coach site personnel in effective EHS processes and principles.
• Lead hazard, near-miss, and incident reporting and investigations.
• Ensure timely gap closures through root-cause analysis and field observations.
• Own life-critical policies and Carolina STAR qualification requirements.
