Job summary

Abbott is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety specialist for the Avon, IN site within the CRM Cardiac Rhythm Management division. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining EHS programs to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and legal requirements.

You will lead inspections, train employees, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with operations, safety committees, and external consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and a minimum of 2 years of related EHS work experience or an equivalent combination of education and EHS work experience.
• A good understanding of the specified functional area.
• MS Office applications knowledge.
• Experience establishing, leading, and sustaining a site Safety Committee that drives employee engagement, hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience leading investigations and identifying root causes using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc. Ability to set up a safety reporting standard and work with Ops leadership to follow that standard.
• Strong project management skills with experience supporting construction, equipment installation, and operational startup activities.
• Metrics-driven mindset with experience developing safety KPIs, dashboards, management reporting, and site-wide safety communications.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all EHS permits and licenses required for Abbott site operations.
• Assists in identifying potential EHS risks and consequences of new/modified processes and takes appropriate action.
• Formulates, implements, manages and improves all programs related to Environmental, Health and Safety.
• Establishes contact with supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals.
• Prepares written communication and conveys information effectively in documents and meetings.
• Contributes to risk assessments and project scope documents.
