Job summary

Novelis Ashville is seeking an EHS Coordinator to support environmental, health, and safety programs, investigations, and reporting, collaborating with employees, plant leadership, and regulators to ensure safe, compliant operations.

This role focuses on training, data analysis, permitting, audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement of environmental and safety performance at the Ashville plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field, or an associate degree with relevant EHS experience.
• Ability to pursue an applicable health, safety, or environmental professional certification if not currently certified.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to contribute and work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks, provide feedback, develop action plans, and contribute as both a team leader and team member.
• Ability to recognize and analyze critical issues, identify appropriate resources and follow tasks through completion.
• Ability to apply sampling and analysis protocols, provide accurate data, and train others on sampling procedures.
• Ability to organize records, reports, and compliance documentation accurately and consistently.

Responsibilities

• Compile and prepare environmental, health, and safety reports for local, state, and federal agencies.
• Support maintenance of environmental permits and operating records.
• Develop and deliver EHS training to plant employees.
• Monitor regulatory initiatives and communicate updates to management.
• Audit and maintain systems to support compliance with environmental programs.
• Identify opportunities to improve environmental compliance and waste reduction.
• Build relationships with environmental regulatory authorities.
• Escort inspectors and communicate inspection results to management.
• Conduct behavior-based safety observations and recommend follow‑ups.
• Recommend corrective actions from data systems for compliance.
• Collect and analyze injury data to identify trends.
• Assist with audits of health and safety procedures and maintain records.
• Support wastewater facility oversight and reporting to management and EPA.
• Collaborate with staff to promote safety culture and continuous improvement.
