Job summary

MAGRIS Talc in Montana seeks an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) professional to provide direct EHS support across operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state and company policies.

The role leads risk assessment, training, permits, audits, and incident investigations, coordinating with site teams and external regulators to maintain safe workplaces and healthy communities. The position collaborates with MSHA, EPA and state agencies, prepares reports, and mentors EHS interns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, or related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, incident investigation, and reporting protocols.
  • Ability to research and analyze information and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in training and motivating employees.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of federal and Montana environmental regulations and MSHA regulations.
  • MSHA Blue Card preferred; certification within one year if not held.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications within one year: Visible Opacity, Water Operator, DOT Hazmat Awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct job exposure analyses to ensure safe work environments according to EHS standards.
  • Develop, implement, and administer environmental safety and health programs.
  • Oversee and actively manage operating permits and monitoring, sampling and reporting for all Montana sites.
  • Own and manage the Environmental Management Systems.
  • Participate in internal and external audits of EHS and Quality Management Systems.
  • Coordinate and co-conduct EHS training.
  • Organize and complete MSHA ART for all MT sites.
  • Implement programs, policies, and assessments to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Gather data, review reports and findings to monitor performance and detect trends.
  • Initiate and complete root cause analysis for all events in Montana.
  • Prepare updates and maintain permits, reports or forms required by agencies.
  • Provide direct management of EHS interns.
  • Report EHS KPIs and provide guidance to site management on regulations.
  • Maintain records of environmental incidents and responses.
