Job summary

ZF Group is seeking an EHS Specialist – Environmental to lead the plant's environmental program in Marysville, MI. You will provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure ongoing compliance with EGLE, SARA, MAERS, air permits and ISO 14001, and support audits and records management.

You will administer reporting, maintain plans and systems, liaise with authorities, and contribute to safety and ISO 14001 processes.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience; degree may be substituted by experience.
  • Strong MS Office skills and written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Chemical, Natural, or Environmental science preferred.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour training preferred.
  • RCRA Training preferred.
  • DOT Manifests preferred.
  • Hands-on experience implementing ISO 14001 processes and achieving certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and compliance practices.
  • Administer environmental compliance reporting for air, water, waste, permits, inventories and related docs.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify environmental issues and drive improvement.
  • Liaise with federal, state, local and LEPC authorities; communicate requirements and actions to management.
  • Maintain environmental plans and systems (SPCC, SWPPP, chemical management, recycling, waste) and EMS records.
  • Prepare, review, approve and submit routine environmental reports and permit applications.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste records, manifests and disposal documentation.
  • Support safety activities, audits, training, LOTO, ISO 14001 certification processes.

Job description

The EHS Specialist manages the plant’s environmental program, providing technical and regulatory expertise to proactively address environmental issues and ensure continued compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role tracks environmental metrics, communicates progress to management, maintains policies and procedures in accordance with Department of Environmental Quality requirements, participates in audits, and manages records to support compliance with environmental certifications.

What you can look forward to as the EHS Specialist- Environmental:
  • Implement and maintain environmental policies, procedures, and compliance practices in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, including EGLE, SARA, MAERS, air permits, and ISO 14001.
  • Administer environmental compliance reporting for air, water, solid waste, hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, permits, inventories, surveys, and related documentation.
  • Conduct and support facility inspections and audits to identify environmental concerns, correct non-compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the liaison with federal, state, local, and LEPC environmental authorities, and communicate regulatory requirements and corrective actions to management.
  • Maintain required environmental plans and systems, including SPCC, SWPPP, chemical management, recycling, waste processing, and environmental management system records.
  • Prepare, review, approve, and submit routine environmental reports, permit applications, records, monitoring data, and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste records, manifests, disposal documentation, requisitions, audits, costs, accountability, and off-site disposal requirements.
  • Support safety-related activities, audits, training, LOTO assistance, TS 16949 requirements, ISO 14001 certification processes, and other duties as assigned.
Your profile as EHS Specialist- Environmental:
  • Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience, experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Strong MS Office skills, communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be able to perform work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now, and in the future, without company sponsorship.
  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Chemical, Natural, or Environmental science or equivalent experience. (preferred)
  • HAZWOPER Incident Commander 40-hour training (preferred)
  • RCRA Training (preferred)
  • DOT Manifests (preferred)
  • Hands on experience implementing ISO 14001 processes and requirements through to certification (preferred)
