Job summary

Randstad USA in West Haven, CT is seeking an EHS Specialist to support development and implementation of Environmental, Health & Safety programs at a new manufacturing site. Initial startup phase focuses on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and EHS system implementation.

You will lead audits, maintain ISO standards, manage permits (air, water, HazMat), and train employees while coordinating with regulators and consultants.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHS commissioning, PHAs, PSSRs, and MOC for new facilities and equipment.
• Manage multi-media environmental permitting (Air, Water, HazMat) with regulators and consultants.
• Perform hazardous material inventories and MAQ evaluations.
• Maintain air, stormwater, and wastewater permit compliance.
• Direct RCRA hazardous waste storage, inspections, and disposal.
• File mandatory regulatory reports (TRI, Tier II, Air, Wastewater).
• Track regulatory shifts and implement required compliance updates.
• Oversee key OSHA programs (LOTO, Confined Space, HazCom, Respiratory, Fall Protection).
• Drive incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
• Manage contractor safety compliance and high-risk work permits.
• Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems.
• Author SOPs, deliver employee/contractor training, and track EHS metrics.
• Lead internal audits and support regulatory inspections.

Seeking an EHS Specialist for a high growth chemical manufacturing client in the West Haven, CT area.

The EHS Specialist would be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's Environmental, Health & Safety programs. During the initial startup phase, this position will focus on environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, facility commissioning, and implementation of EHS systems for a new manufacturing site.

Location: West Haven, Connecticut. Job type: Permanent. Salary: $80,000 - 90,000 per year. Work hours: 8am to 4pm. Education: Bachelors.
