The Judge Group is seeking an EHS Specialist for a manufacturer in Omaha, NE. This hands-on role drives site-wide environmental, health, and safety programs across shifts and departments, reporting to the Plant Manager.
You will lead safety program management, incident investigations, regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA), training, audits, and safety metrics while fostering a proactive safety culture and cross-functional collaboration.
Industry leading manufacturer in the Omaha, NE area is seeking anEHS Specialistwho will be responsible for driving site-wide environmental, health, and safety programs across the manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this hands‑on role works across all shifts and departments to build a proactive safety culture, maintain regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, local standards), and mitigate workplace hazards. The ideal candidate blends technical regulatory knowledge with strong shop‑floor engagement to keep employees safe while supporting production continuity. Standard working hours will be M-F.
Safety Program Management: Maintain and execute core general industry safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), Confined Space, Fall Protection, and Respiratory Protection.
Shop‑Floor Hazard Identification: Conduct daily floor walkthroughs, routine safety inspections, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to identify risk and implement corrective actions.
Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations for injuries, near‑misses, and property damage using root‑cause methodologies (5‑Why, Fishbone) to track and close corrective/preventive action (CAPA) plans.
Environmental Compliance: Oversee site environmental tracking and reporting, including hazardous/non‑hazardous waste management (RCRA), stormwater/wastewater (SWPPP), air permitting compliance, chemical inventory, and Tier II/TRI filings.
Training & Onboarding: Develop and deliver mandatory EHS training for new hires, contractors, and ongoing annual employee recertifications.
Safety Committee Leadership: Support the employee‑led safety committee, acting as a technical advisor and driving accountability on employee‑submitted safety concerns.
Audits & Metrics: Maintain facility safety metrics (OSHA 300 logs, TRIR, DART) and participate in internal or third‑party EHS audits (such as ISO 14001 / ISO 45001).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and direct industry experience).
Experience: 2–5 years of hands‑on EHS experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial production environment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid working understanding of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and primary EPA regulations (RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act).
Technical Skills: Experience conducting JSAs/JHAs, incident root‑cause analysis, and managing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) systems.
Certifications & Training: OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry certification highly preferred. Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is a plus.
Subject Matter Expertise: Advanced, practical expertise in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program development, machine‑specific procedure writing, and energy isolation auditing highly preferred.
Software: Proficiency with EHS management software (e.g., VelocityEHS, Enablon, Intelex).
