Job summary

Central Michigan University is seeking a Coordinator for Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety, to develop and implement EH&S programs in accordance with state and federal regulations, guiding campus personnel on hazardous waste response, hygiene, and compliance.

The role requires coordinating with the campus community, delivering training, and ensuring safe facilities. Regular hours and a 50-pound lift capability are required for site operations on the Mount Pleasant, MI campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, public health, chemistry, biology or physics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including experience with group presentations.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and/or Access.

Responsibilities

• Manages the University’s Hazardous Waste program including pickup, transport, segregation, characterization, sampling, packing and disposal.
• Determines the University’s generator status.
• Conducts inspections/audits to ensure regulatory compliance (MIOSHA/OSHA, EGLE/EPA, DOT).
• Coordinates waste disposal projects including handling of toxic materials and hazardous chemicals.
• Develops training programs in Risk Management and EH&S topics.
