Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an EH&S professional to lead the development and refinement of EHS programs at our Nampa, Idaho site.

You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and support a safe, healthy work environment for employee-owners. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, conduct audits, and drive ISO 14001/45001 initiatives while supporting incident investigations and safety design input.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a EH&S related field or Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of EH&S related experience.
  • Professional certification such as ASP or OHST.
  • Experience with multiple EH&S programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, grammar, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Negative drug test results.
  • Background check satisfactory to SEL.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and refinement of EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Counsel management and employees on safety practices; participate in cross-functional problem solving.
  • Respond to environmental inquiries, surveys, and incidents.
  • Participate in audits and ISO 14001/45001 compliance actions.
  • Perform EH&S reviews as part of MOC processes.
  • Collaborate with senior EH&S and other engineering groups on safety design.
  • Partner with site safety committee on hazard control and incident investigations.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of SEL’s environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs that encourage a safe and healthy work environment and comply with federal, state, and local regulations; research regulations as needed.
  • Own programs that ensure safety and environmental compliance; maintain programs to fulfill on-going customer requirements or needs.
  • Counsel all levels of management and employee owners on safety management programs and practices and balance the needs of various stakeholders to understand problems and needs; participate in cross functional teams to create solutions within areas of expertise.
  • Respond to job related customer inquiries, questionnaires, surveys, requirements, issues, and any environmental incidents.
  • Participate in internal audits and compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory and ISO 14001 and 45001 standard requirements.
  • Perform EH&S review/approval as part of the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Participate in equipment safety design by working closely with more senior EH&S personnel and other engineering groups within the company.
  • Partner with site safety committee on active hazard control and accident prevention programs; facilitate incident investigation process, assist or lead in root cause investigations, and recommend corrective actions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a EH&S related field or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of EH&S related experience
  • Professional certification, such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), etc.
  • Experience with multiple EH&S programs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent writing, grammar, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • EH&S experience in electronics manufacturing environment
  • ISO 45001 and/or 14001 internal auditor experience
Physical Requirements
  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods, climb stairs unassisted and lift and carry up to 20 lbs

Pay Range Data: $89,400 - $134,100 per year.

Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
