Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) in Lynchburg, VA seeks an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead the development and continuous improvement of EHS programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

This role oversees a team of safety engineers and technicians within the Advanced Technologies Office. You will set strategic EHS direction, maintain a compliant management system, monitor legislation, lead incident investigations, oversee training and hazardous waste

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial safety, environmental safety, or industrial hygiene or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years in a management or supervisory role.
• Minimum of ten years of EHS safety experience.
• Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communications.
• Must be able to handle confidential information and materials.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain DOE and/or DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Establish strategic direction regarding EHS for the Advanced Technologies organization.
• Manage a comprehensive EHS management system and compliant programs.
• Monitor local, state, and federal safety and environmental legislation for compliance.
• Oversee changes to facility incorporating OSHA, DEQ NFPA, and ANSI code requirements.
• Lead incident reviews and investigations.
• Maintain EHS documentation and prepare EHS reports.
• Oversee EHS training programs and hazardous waste management.
• Support other BWXT locations as requested.
• Manage the activities of the site Radiation Safety Officer under a limited scope license.
