This position is designed to accomplish goals of the organization by the judicious application of knowledge and experience in project planning, selection, purchase, installation, operation & maintenance, modifications & modernization of equipment & systems, to improve the working environment, protect physical facilities, and increase productivity.
The position requires technical skills and knowledge of the process as well as strong capabilities in areas of planning, scheduling, organizing, follow up and cost control. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Position will help bolster plant operations relative to engineering needs. Projects are typically significant assignments of broader programs involving existing products or processes. Projects may involve annual objectives and a team effort. May provide technical direction to non-exempt personnel or line supervisors and operators but does not have regular supervisory responsibility.
The incumbent will receive instructions on task specifications and design constraints, as well as technical direction during assignments. Will be responsible for planning the details, sequence, and priority of tasks to meet established time targets of which progress and results will be periodically reviewed. Long term, mid-term and daily planning are a key aspect of the position responsibilities.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity to see details within a few feet of an observer, accepting of criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other's needs, positive demeanor, and model change management for the business.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as forklifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.
